Dragon Cursed

The moment you see a dragon is usually your last. Ever since dragons emerged, bringing with them a devastating scourge that nearly wiped out humanity, only one city remains standing, Vingard. Yet the danger from above is nothing compared to the terror within, for there is no fate worse than being Dragon Cursed, a slow and agonizing transformation into a mindless beast destined to destroy everything and everyone you once loved. Anyone could be infected, anyone could be hiding the truth, and anyone could be hunted down and killed by the authorities, and the fear of being next is impossible to escape.

Haunted by this possibility, the narrator struggles with a secret that could mean their end, knowing that suspicion alone is enough to condemn them. The only other person who might sense the truth is Lucan, a constant presence who lingers like a shadow, part protector, part tormentor, and endlessly frustrating. His watchful nature and hidden depths suggest he knows far more than he reveals, and as the threat of exposure grows, so does the terrifying realization that if the curse is real, death may be the only mercy left.
