Funny Story

Daphne always loved her fiancé Peter’s version of their romantic origin story, right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend, Petra. Now stranded in the lakeside town of Waning Bay without a support system, Daphne finds herself in the unlikely position of rooming with the only person who truly understands her heartbreak: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak. Scruffy, chaotic, and fueled by sad love ballads, Miles is the polar opposite of the practical, buttoned-up Daphne, whose mysterious demeanor has her coworkers convinced she is in witness protection.

The two roommates initially avoid each other, but they eventually bond over their shared misery and devise a plan to post misleadingly happy photos of their summer adventures to irk their exes. While their "relationship" is strictly for show, Daphne begins to wonder if her new chapter might actually involve falling for her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex, proving that life's unscripted moments are often the most unpredictable.
